WILMINGTON RENAISSANCE CORPORATION
WRC has three working groups which continually focus on challenges facing the City of Wilmington, solutions for overcoming them and ways to implement changes.
DBIZ was created to serve as a resource and development tool for small businesses to gather start-up information and develop an organized plan and process that will lead to the opening of a successful business in the downtown Wilmington area.
The Wilmington Train Station, Pennsylvania Building and B&O Water Street station comprise the only remaining campus of Furness-designed buildings in the United States. The group of three buildings is truly a unique treasure in Wilmington.
The organization consists of Economic Restructuring, Design, Outreach, and Promotions committees. WRC staff contributes to the Main Street Wilmington efforts by sitting on each committee.
WRC partners with TSN Publishing to produce CityLife Wilmington magazine. The bi-monthly magazine is filled with informative and fun stories about the City of Wilmington with everything from what to do on the weekends and where to live in the city to new city programs and profiles of city champions.
In 2007, developers such as Preservation Initiatives, The Commonwealth Group and The Buccini/Pollin Group as well as existing businesses in the lower end of Market Street all came together to create a concept for the area.
In recent years, WRC has conducted community surveys to gauge the interest in living downtown as well as the public opinion of the City of Wilmington.
